About Us

The Barrackpore Avenue Women’s Cultural and Social Welfare Society (BAWCSW), established in 2001 in West Bengal, was founded through the dedication and hard work of Mrs. Camille Johnson and her team, who aimed to address the rising poverty in both rural and urban areas. Focused on improving the lives of disadvantaged children, BAWCSW provides a safe haven through three well-managed homes where children are offered proper nutrition, a strong educational foundation, vocational training, recreational activities, and healthcare. The organization aims to tackle the pressing issue of homelessness among children, a hidden problem in Barrackpore, where many are often overlooked despite their vulnerability. With an increasing number of street children caused by economic hardship and other factors, BAWCSW’s efforts are a crucial intervention, helping to identify and support children facing severe hardships in the Barrackpore locality, as well as in nearby areas like Basudebpur and Kamarhati slums. Through these interventions, the organization works to provide a better future for children who are often classified as disadvantaged and poor, offering them opportunities for a brighter tomorrow.
